Easter Egg Hunt
Around Easter, the Village holds an Egg Hunt at no cost to participants. The Village will not hold a 2022 Easter Egg Hunt.
Village Wide Garage Sales
The Village will hold their annual Garage Sale starting on Friday May 13th - Saturday May 14th, 2022.
Fall Garage Sale is scheduled for September 30 & October 1, 2022 with a rain date of October 7th and October 8, 2022. There will not be a junk pickup after this garage sale. Please do not leave items on the edge of your property.
Junk day will begin on Monday May 16th, 2022. This will be the ONLY Junk day for the year! Please plan accordingly. Now is the time to look through your closets, drawers, basement and garages to see if there are any items you can live without! Remember the saying one man's junk is another man's treasure! You can possibly turn your extra items into cash! The Village has placed an ad in the State Journal Register for promotion of the garage sales in the Village. Good luck to all! Starting Monday May 16th, the Public Works crew will begin the clean up. Remember to stop by and purchase the mattress bag and tape if you are setting any mattresses outside for pickup. We will not pick up unless it is sealed by our bags. The bags are $10.00 each and can be purchased at the Village Hall. A mattress and a box spring should be in separate bags. The Village does not accept credit cards. Payment must be made by cash or check. Electronic equipment and TV's must be taken to BLH Computers as the dump will not accept these items. DO NOT place them out for pickup as they will be left behind. As always, please pick up your area for pickup after the "junkers" come by and go through it. It makes it easier for Public Works to pick them up if they are in boxes or bags.

Veterans Day Banquet
Veterans Day is a day to thank our Veterans for their sacrifices. Southern View sponsors a reception for our local Veterans to get together and swap stories. We have hosted breakfasts, luncheons, and dinners in celebration of our local veterans. This year, our neighbors at the Route 66 Hotel and the owners of the new restaurant, Kicks Route 66 Diner located inside the hotel has graciously offered their location with food and beverages for the Veterans and their families. In order to have the right amount of food, please call or email the office as to how many will be in attendance. The Village is very excited about doing something GRAND this year to show our appreciation for the veterans sacrifices and those of their families. It’s been a long two years and we are excited to see everyone again! As always, if you have not done so already, call 217-529-3352 or email email@example.com name, address, branch of service and years served so that we may honor you for all you have sacrificed in serving in the United States Armed Forces.
